Piperine also may be more effective at increasing absorption of nutrients. This is because, unlike drugs, the body recognizes nutrients and wants to use them, not eliminate them. In five different human studies, 5 mg of standardized piperine (Bioperine) was administered simultaneously with standard doses of the nutrients beta-carotene, selenium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and coenzyme Q10. In Japan, scientific interest in authentic vinegar's health benefits is revitalizing the small Kyushu brown rice vinegar industry. Dr. Yoshio Takino of Shizuka University, Japan, has confirmed the importance of vinegar's amino acids. According to Takino, the twenty amino acids and sixteen organic acids found in authentic rice vinegar help prevent the formation of toxic fat peroxides. He explains that when unsaturated fatty acids from vegetable oils and other foods are heated and exposed to light in cooking or oxidized during metabolism, fat peroxides can form, which contribute to aging and to cholesterol formation on blood vessel walls.

In addition to their high capsaicin content, cayenne peppers are also an excellent source of vitamin A, through its concentration of pro-vitamin A carotenoids including beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is not only a potent antioxidant in its own right, but can be converted in the body to vitamin A, a nutrient essential for the health of all epithelial tissues (the tissues that line all body cavities including the respiratory, gastrointestinal and reproductive tracts). Beta-carotene may therefore be helpful in reducing the symptoms of asthma, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, its antioxidant activity make it useful in preventing the free radical damage that can lead to atherosclerosis, colon cancer, and diabetic complications, like nerve damage and heart disease.

There are countless recipes whose main ingredient is chicken that have become beloved favorites of many families.  Chicken is known to be a dieter’s friend as well as a staple for restrictive diets.  Much of the fat contained within a chicken is located in the skin, but the skin is also where much of that delicious chicken flavor is kept, as well.  The recipe you choose may specify whether or not the chicken should retain the skin during cooking; if not, you can use your discretion.  One point to remember when making that decision is the length of the cooking time.  The skin also will serve as a moisture sealant, so if a long cooking period is required the skin may be needed to ensure a juicy dish.

And the vitamin value of the yeast is conserved in the hundreds of unfiltered beers that are on the market -- both on tap and in bottles.
