The bioflavonoid constituents of this herb are reported to reduce the permeability of blood vessels, especially of capillaries, so that extracts from Lemon Peel are also included in remedies for phlebitis. New studies on a monoterpene found in Lemon Peel called "limonene" show that it very effectively prevents individuals from developing abnormal growths on their skin.

Some studies have shown that when babies drink both milk and carrot juice they get the best possible amount of Vitamin A.

The Journal of Nutrition reports that our leafy friend, spinach, contains a carotenoid that makes prostate cancers destroy themselves. This same carotenoid, after being changed by the intestines, prevents prostrate cancer from reproducing itself. Spinach also contains kaempferol, a strong antioxidant that prevents the formation of cancerous cells. Women who have a high intake of this flavonoid show a reduced risk of ovarian cancer, likely because of kaempferol's ability to reduce cancer cells proliferation. Kaempferol is also found in non-herbal tea, onions, apples, citrus, grapes, red wine, curly kale, St. John's wort, leeks, broccoli and blueberries.

Furthermore, the leaves can be effectively chewed as a breath freshener. The oil, which is distilled from the leaves and seeds of parsley, is used as a fragrance in soaps, cosmetics, and perfumes.
Studies have demonstrated that diets high in dark green vegetables such as spinach are associated with a decreased risk of colon cancer. Researchers have identified at least thirteen different flavonoid compounds in spinach that function as antioxidants and as anticancer agents. Specialized spinach extracts have been created to be used in controlled studies, and these spinach extracts have been shown to slow down cell division in human stomach cancer cells. To say that carrots are an excellent source of Vitamin A and alpha and beta carotene is to understate the situation. You can get a whole day's supply of vitamin A from ¼ cup of grated carrot, which is a little over an ounce of carrots. Carrots are also a very good source of vitamin K and a good source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium and have a fair source of other micronutrients. Vitamin A appears to function in maintaining normal skin health. The mechanisms behind retinoid's therapeutic agents in the treatment of dermatological diseases are being researched. For the treatment of acne, the most effective drug is 13-cis retinoic acid (isotretinoin). Although its mechanism of action remains unknown, it is the only retinoid that dramatically reduces the size and secretion of the sebaceous glands. Isotretinoin reduces bacterial numbers in both the ducts and skin surface. This is thought to be a result of the reduction in sebum, a nutrient source for the bacteria. Isotretinoin reduces inflammation via inhibition of chemotatic responses of monocytes and neutrophils.[17] Isotretinoin also has been shown to initiate remodeling of the sebaceous glands; triggering changes in gene expression that selectively induces apoptosis.[20] Isotretinoin is a teratogen and its use is confined to medical supervision.
There are supposedly several beneficial uses of saffron. Benefits may include treating depression, asthma, atherosclerosis, and painful menstrual periods, among other conditions. There is some evidence that saffron may have anti-cancer effects and may help lower cholesterol and triglycerides. Saffron is also sometimes used topically to help with certain conditions, such as baldness. It is not known if medicinal uses of saffron are safe for children.

Cooked sweet corn has significant antioxidant activity, which can substantially reduce the chance of heart disease and cancer. Cooked sweet corn retains its antioxidant activity, despite the loss of vitamin C.
Curry’s anti-inflammatory properties have been shown in studies to promote neurological health. In the past, other anti-inflammatory agents (such as pharmaceuticals) have proven beneficial for this purpose as well, although their use has been limited due to their harmful effects on other areas of the body including the liver, kidney, and stomach. Curry has not displayed these side effects and could prove a valuable alternative to other anti-inflammatory agents.
