Garlic was of great medicinal importance in nearby Egypt. It has been found in the tombs of the ancient Pharaohs dating back to 3,200 B.C. Its use by the pyramid builders, who believed garlic gave them strength, is inscribed on the Great Pyramid of Cheops. The only slave revolt in Egypt (beside the Jewish Exodus) was by laborers over a lack of garlic one year when the Nile flooded the garlic fields. In the Egyptian "Ebers Codex," written in 1550 B.C., there were 22 different medical formulations that included garlic.

Port wine is a very rich, very sweet, very heavy wine. It also possesses a much higher alcohol content than most other wines do. This is true of all of the different styles of port wine that are available. The higher alcohol content is because of the way that the wine has been aged, either via reductive aging or oxidative aging. Reductive aging takes place whenever wine is matured and aged in sealed tanks with no exposure to air. On the other hand, wines that have matured in barrels with a small amount of exposure to oxygen have been through oxidative aging.

Studies found that celery contains a at least eight compounds that help prevent cancer cells from spreading. Certain compounds called acetylenics have been shown to stop the growth of tumor cells. Celery contains other compounds called phonolic acids that block the action of hormone-like substances called prostaglandins, which encourage the growth of tumor cells. Coumarins, another phytonutrient in celery helps prevent free-radicals from damaging cells and prevent the formation and development of colon and stomach cancers.

Keep leftover onion fresh
